Archos Gmini 402

With all the fuss that surrounds the iPod these days it's easy to forget the mighty Gmini. A fine player to be sure, with great sound quality and flexible video playback. It's pretty clear the the only real competition to the Apple is Archos. Having been in the video player (and recorder) market for some 3 or 4 years they certainly know how to deliver a compelling portable video experience.

It will be (mildly) interesting to see how many video players Apple ship before the end of the year.

Apple have been very careful not to market this as the Video iPod, rather it's the iPod with Video. That way it stays an MP3 player first a picture player second and lastly it can play video. It'll sell bucket-loads. If people dig the video part then Apple will launch a full Video iPod.
